SW prides itself on being a part of the global community of businesses striving to
transform our economy in a more sustainable direction. The various third-party recognitions we’ve been certified and awarded further reaffirm our company’s continued commitment to practicing an ethical and sustainable business model. Previous certifications and awards given to SW include California Green Business Certification, SA8000 Certification, Skin Health Alliance (SHA) Approved, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certified, and Ragan’s Corporate Social Responsibilities and Diversity Award.
California Green Businesses collectively aim to reduce their carbon footprint by conserving water usage, waste production, and energy usage.
The SA8000 certification, mentioned along with SW’s other certifications, was developed by the Social Accountability International Organization and verifies that a company is not practicing oppressive workforce conditions like child labor, forced/compulsory labor, unsafe workplace environments, union busting, or workplace discrimination.
SW products are also SHA-approved, which verifies that SW products are not only safe for the skin but also not harmful to the environment at any stage of their development, manufacture, or disposal.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification guarantees that products are made from materials sourced from responsibly managed forests, confirming that they provide environmental, social, and economic benefits.
SW has also been recognized as a B corp business. Getting B Corp certified is a holistic assessment (B Impact Assessment), which must be renewed every three years, and is centered around five thematic pillars: How your company is taking care of your workers, how your company considers all stakeholders, how your company gives back to the community, how much of a positive impact your company has in your customer’s lives, and how much of a positive impact your company has on the environment. Most recently, we were awarded a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis.
EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. They were founded in 2007 and have since rated over 130,000 companies. SW is proud to join their global network of sustainable businesses. Their methodology concerns international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the ISO 26000. Ecovadis Bronze medal means receiving a percentile rank across all companies rated by Ecovadis in all industries over the past 12 months. SW percentile rank is 80th, and it falls among the Top 35% of companies rated by the Ecovadis platform. The criteria require businesses to have demonstrated a relatively strong management system that addresses sustainability goals. Companies must achieve a score of 30 in all four categories: environment, ethics, labor and human rights, and sustainable procurement. The EcoVadis team states, “The EcoVadis score (0-100) reflects the quality of a company’s sustainability management system at the time of the assessment.” The assessment is based on three management pillars: policies, actions, and results. A company must have sustainable policies, enforce these policies, and then provide transparency to all stakeholders. SW received a sustainability rating with an overall score of 63%, which was recognized as a ‘good sustainability’ performance.
Being awarded an EcoVadis Bronze Medal shows our brand’s commitment to continuous improvement, working every day to become better for our customers, workers, and the environment. It adds credibility to our transparency with stakeholders and shows them that we are focused on tangible commitments. It also shows our trajectory in making measurable differences, having been awarded various accolades.
